John is a wildlife and landscape photographer whose work has taken him around the world, but Scotland is where he's most at home — particularly the sea lochs, hills and islands of the west coast, from Argyll up through the Small Isles and out to the Hebrides.
Alongside stills, John trained in wildlife filmmaking at the Wild Island Film School on the Isle of Mull. There he wrote and directed Trying on New Lives, a short film exploring themes of grief and positivity — work that sits close to why he keeps coming back to this coastline with a camera in the first place: time spent quietly alongside nature, watching and waiting, tends to give something back.
